Pictures of our great Keheley news crews! More coming soon....

We are fully into the year and the news is going really well. Each group of students is working together well; they all step up to the plate if another student is late or absent. We are working on getting all 5 crews to be "tight" and sharp while they are on air so that they will look professional. Reading aloud is a skill that we all need to practice. It can be difficult to do! We've done some switching around; some students would rather be in front of the camera and others would rather be behind, so we have adjusted accordingly. As I have told the kids, the position you have now may not be the position that you keep all year.
I am currently working on getting someone to come talk to us about the news. If you know anyone who works on TV news and they'd give us an hour, please let me know! We'd love to get some grown-up professional input.
I am always open to the students writing their own news reports and filming them. If your student has something to report, please let me know. I'll be thrilled to help edit and film after they have written.

Wow! What a great start! So far, we have had each news crew do the news at least once. The first time they did great; you could tell there were nerves but they are professionals and did the best job possible. This week, the KNN news crew is blowing me away! I tell them all every day how impressive they are. The amount of work, intensity and professionalism they are putting into the news is just wonderful. I can't wait to see where these kids go this year!

We handed out assignments today for KNN. There are 5 crews of 5 each: anchor one, anchor two, special reporter, birthday announcer and director. I am really looking forward to working with the students on the news; we have a lot of exciting things lined up and these students will do a great job. As I told each of them today, they all did a fantastic job in their interviews. I was really impressed!
Today I gave them their contracts and asked each of them to please have their contracts back before Monday, August 18. If their contract is not in by the time they are supposed to be on the news, they will not be on that day. Please help your student get their contract back to me in a timely manner. Students are required to abide by the contract rules. It makes all of our lives so much easier to have these rules!
Looking forward to a great year with the KNN kids!
